Essential Oils for Oily Skin

Oily skin

Your sebaceous glands could be creating excessive oil, if you have oily skin. Humidity, heat, and hormones can be factors that contribute to this. The following essential oils may help relieve oily skin issues.

Frankincense It is used by some for oily and acne-prone skin and to provide lipids for aging skin, but more research is needed.

Clary sage Linalyl acetate and geranyl compounds in clary sage may help with controlling excess sebum, acne and the appearance of wrinkles in mature skin. Known as a go-to essential oil for controlling excess sebum, it's a popular choice for many.

Rosemary Rosemary is know to have Anti-inflammatory, stimulating, and analgesic properties. Key ingredients, such as esters, may help reduce excess sebum, greasy hair and dandruff.


Neroli Neroli contains citral. There is a possibility that it can help balance out sebum without drying your skin.

Geranium Geranium may also balance out skin oils. The alkalinity makes geranium a great addition to soaps, and it’s also helpful in balancing hydration levels.
