About the Event

Details

Essential oils are seeing a recent worldwide boom, due in part to people seeking a healthier immune system and well being since the corona virus pandemic started.

Ever wondered why mixing your own natural essential oil blends seems difficult at times? The secret is in the notes!

At this event, we will be guided with a clear and simple guide on the basic process all master blenders start out with! You will be shown the oils categorized into base notes, middle notes and top notes, and also how to balance these notes.

The blending guide will help you find the correct balance of fragrances for other crafts anytime you are in the mood for something new!

Here's a quick breakdown of the event:

1, Insect repellent. (30ml) Get to know key insect repellent essential oils, their uses and history. Then, you will be carefully led through the mixing for a natural insect repellent using essential oils and another few non-chemical key ingredients.

2. Your personal blend. (30ml) Blend your very own room spray, using a wide range of available pure essential oils and some other carefully selected ingredients.

Everything needed for the craft will be supplied. Including the spray bottles which you can take home with you at the end of the event and start using strait away! (2x30ml Natural essential oil sprays)

There will be a wide selection of pure 100% essential oils available for everyone to use including favorites like Lavender, Geranium, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Orange sweet, Tea tree, Rosemary, Citronella and more!

The Joining fee for this event is 2500 yen per person.

It's a stylish venue, easy to find. Just above August moon cafe in Hamacho.

Why make your own bug spray?

“N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET) is the usual go-to for commercial bug spray. It’s incredibly controversial, and for good reason. Dr. Abou Donia, a Duke University pharmacologist, found that “rats treated with an average human dose of DEET (40 mg/kg body weight) performed far worse than control rats when challenged with physical tasks requiring muscle control, strength and coordination.”

In the same study, Dr. Abou Donia found that DEET caused “neurons to die in regions of the brain that control muscle movement, learning, memory and concentration.” The pharmacologist says that children are at a higher risk for brain changes after DEET exposure because their skin absorbs it more readily.

It’s also interesting to note that as of 2018 the EPA has yet to complete an endocrine disruptor screening on DEET, so that data is still unknown.

# There will be COVID-19 precautions in place, including hand sanitiser.

Please wear a mask at the event and those with a persistent cough or fever please refrain from attending the event.
